Mercedes-Benz EQS to offer massive 56-inch ‘hyperscreen’ dashboard – Robb Report

Mercedes-Benz has promised the future with the upcoming EQS EV, and based on what we’ve seen so far, they might just be able to deliver.

The German automaker shared the first detailed images of the interior of the all-electric sedan over the weekend, and the results look like something out of a movie. The touchscreen-centric design blends cutting-edge technology and luxury in a way few brands have matched.

The piece de resistance, of course, is the large Hyperscreen display that spans a dashboard. Measuring 56 inches in diameter and offering up to 377 square inches of visual space, the screen is made up of three screens: a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 17-inch infotainment screen, and a passenger screen. of 12.3 inches. physical button. It will allow you to do everything, check maps, adjust temperature control settings, and select entertainment options. And when one of the screens is not in use, the Hyperscreen can display ambient backgrounds that can match the interior cabin lighting.

As impressive as the Hyperscreen can be, some will certainly wonder if they really need all that visual space. If that’s you, don’t worry, as the glass screen covering the dashboard isn’t standard. The base configuration includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster positioned in the driver’s cockpit and a 12.8-inch vertical infotainment touchscreen that almost seems to float above the center console. This setup, similar to that of the new S-Class, is not so breathtaking, but will still turn heads.

Mercedes has not forgotten the rest of the interior either. The flowing lines travel from front to back and both sets of seats are covered in quilted leather and neotex (which looks like a combination of high-tech nubuck leather and neoprene) and have luminous piping that helps in highlight their shape. While it hasn’t been ready to reveal all the details just yet, the brand said every color and trim option has been chosen to accentuate the feeling of spaciousness in the cabin. There are also several laser-cut backlit elements throughout the interior, designed to create a nighttime mood when the sun goes down.

Finally, there is a series of special soundscapes that will fill the cabin as you drive. The EQS, like other EVs, has a quiet powertrain, so Mercedes has developed two soundscapes that will play from the car’s Burmester audio system whenever it’s in motion. The first of these is called Silver Waves and is described as “sensual and clean”, while the second, Vivid Flux, is described as “crystalline, synthetic but humanly warm”.

After months of teasing, Mercedes will finally launch the EQS, which can travel 435 miles on a single charge, on April 15. And if the pictures of its interior are any indication, it just might give a taste of the future of luxury.
