The brand new GLS class revealed a few days ago at the New York Auto Show is just the beginning of something big. And we are not just talking about the size of the wheelbase. No, the full range of models has not yet been revealed, but should include the Maybach and AMG models by the end of next year.

The prototypes have been spied on several times, but we do not want to wait for the camouflage to be finished to know what to expect in the design department. This is because the models' renderings are starting to come out.

Aksyonov Nikita is the first to finish both. Although there is no way of knowing if this is what the real ones will look like, it gives us at least an idea of what to expect.

Starting with the GLS Maybach, this is obviously inspired by several sources. The grille is equivalent to the S-Class, which also means it does not fit perfectly with the rest of the bumper. Meanwhile, whimsical designs were seen on the Maybach Vision concept more than a year ago. Of course, the real model will not bring anything exotic, but there could be a special edition later.

On the basis of a few patent filings, we also have a rough idea of the powertrain. The Maybach GLS 600 is expected to offer a few more ponies than a GLS 580 and booster on the same 4-liter V8. Our estimate is around 500 HP. Do not forget it will be the first Maybach assembled in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Meanwhile, the GLS 680 could be a plug-in hybrid with smooth acceleration and 50 km of emissions-free driving. As for the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63, it will also offer a 4-liter V8 bi-turbo, although one with a high dose of cayenne pepper. We expect the output to be somewhere in the 600-630 HP range.
