The Orioles will play their third double of the season today. They have only one victory and three defeats in these two previous twinnings (swept by the Twins on 4/20, separated by the White Sox on 5/1).
Duplicates are quite fun from the fans' point of view. There is more baseball; always a good thing. But it can be tough for pitching staff, especially at the start of a road trip.
The Orioles have been in New York for several days and have not played baseball yet. At the end of the night, they will meet in Cleveland to face the Indians at 6:10 pm. The O website does not have a starting star for the game, but the presiding official may already be heading to Ohio in case something gets delayed in the Bronx tonight.

It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it. The bullpen Orioles is thin. Mychal Givens is, by far, the most accomplished member of the said enclosure and he was fortunate to spend many hours alongside veterans such as Zack Britton, Darren O'Day and Brad Brach during his career. It looks like his leadership ability has somewhat erased him.

The crew of FanGraphs has the Orioles who take receiver Adley Rutschman to the top of the overall standings. No surprises there. But they also mention that there is a non-zero chance that they will instead choose first baseman Andrew Vaughn of Cal-Berkley, as he is likely to sign up for less money. Then they can reallocate these savings to players who can then slide into the draft. Mike Elias was part of a similar plan when the Astros chose Carlos Correa instead of the number one choice unanimously that year, Byron Buxton. The logic makes sense, but Rutschman seems to be above the rest of the reserve. Of course, he may want the most money too, but that's because he's the best. For me, it's worth it.

The Nationals lawyers quoted here said that this agreement with MASN is hampering the Washington club because it limits their ability to engage players and pay other baseball costs. Please! The Nationals still have a top 10 payroll and even made a big offer to Bryce Harper last winter. I understand, they want their "fair share" of MASN money, but they are not really bothered by this negotiation.
