Messages 4.2 adds business verification, plus [APK Insight]

[ad_1]

In its first update since the disappearance of Google Allo, Messages 4.2 recovers the appropriate attachments, continues to prepare the launch of its Google Assistant integration and allows to automatically check the identity of a company.

About APK InsightIn this 'APK Insight' article, we have decompiled the latest version of an app that Google has uploaded to the Play Store. When we decompile these files (called APKs, in the case of Android apps), we are able to see different lines of code in this indication of possible future features. Do not forget that Google may or may not offer these features, and our interpretation of what they are may be imperfect. We will, however, try to allow those who are about to be finished to show you how they will appear in case they are shipped. With that in mind, read on.

Audit of the company

In order to help you know what is spam or not, it seems that Messages will get some kind of verification feature that will use Google services to check if a business message is legitimate.

Assistant in messages

We are seeing the evolution of the integration of the wizard in Messages since version 4.1, and we are getting closer to a step with this update. It appears that Messages displays a notification on your device when the wizard sends a message. It seems like this can happen when the wizard needs to get your confirmation before sending the message.

Attachments

Until now, Messages has only allowed images and audio recordings that are attached to messages. With Messages 4.2, we find that files of any variety can be attached to a message, which is probably related to the different icons we found in 3.9. This feature is not yet available to all users, but users of Android font spotted live on their end. The attachment option will appear in the More menu when writing a message.

How to update?

Messages 4.2 is being deployed through the Play Store. We do not publish APKs for download directly because of legal difficulties related to copyright and the possibility of deletion. In the meantime, this model is perilous given Android's bundled bundles of apps and dynamic Google Play delivery.

Thanks to JEB Decompiler, which benefit some disassembling of APK Insight.
