The curatorial chef of the Met Gala defends the quality of the food served at the ritzy shindig … this after Keke Palmer posted pictures of the food that seemed to recall the Fyre Festival.
Marcus Samuelsson – the restaurateur / chef who helped select the 10 promising chefs who created the Met Gala menu – tells TMZ … to start, yes Keke’s photo is actually part of what was served to $ 30,000 $ 50,000 per evening of tickets.
As for Keke’s plate, Marcus tells us it was barley topped with roasted mushrooms, a tomato salad with corn and slices of zucchini. Marcus says food, like everything, is about taste, and it was very good.
Marcus says the 3 course meal was delicious … and the feedback he received has been amazing.
Marcus, in collaboration with Bon AppĂ©tit, selected and then challenged 10 New York chefs to create a sustainable plant-based menu … hence all the fruits and vegetables. However… Keke’s photo, which showed the entrance, had pretty much everyone talking laughing on social media.
One person wrote: “It was clearly a ‘eat before you get there’ thing.” Someone else said, “They’re all feeding you like it’s the Fyre Festival.”
Check out select dishes, including the 6 appetizers and a pumpkin-watermelon salad.
The dessert included an apple topped with chocolate mousse … and because this event is about as boujee as it gets.
It sounds like a bomb. ??
