As Roselia Community Day approaches, it’s time to talk Roserade and discover his performances PvP and PvE to determine if he has combat versatility.
For the first time ever, a Featured Pokémon will learn of them exclusive movements both
during his community day.
Sure Feb 7, 2021 (11:00 – 5:00 p.m. local time) Roselia, the Pokemon Thorn will appear more in the wild and learn Bullet seed & Weather ball Fire when it evolved into the Bouquet Pokémon, Roserade. The event bonus will be ¼ egg hatch distance with Budew hatching from eggs.
The combination of Bullet Seed and Weather Ball Fire can be a powerful moves game that combines a quick energy gain with a nuclear spammy bomb that synergizes well with the current Pokémon meta.

Roserade has 4 weaknesses: Fire, , Ice and Psychic and 5 resistors which are Grass, Electric, Fairy, Combat and Water.
PvP Leagues
Great League:
The first thing that comes to my mind with these new movements towards Roserade is the comparison with Sunny Cherim who also has access to Bullet seed and Weather ball Fire. From the stats listed above, we can see that Roserade’s attack stat is his huge selling point. 243, which in fact may sound appealing, however, keep in mind that it doesn’t have the bulk needed to survive the charge moves of the majority of the current meta.
In this case, shields are almost mandatory for Roserade to shine. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, although when it comes to using Roserade to “ trade-in ” a Pokémon, it will often have to burn shields to maintain the Switch’s advantage.
You may be thinking “But what about Clod of grass?»And although it is a good Grass nuke, it’s not enough all of a sudden Azumaril which means a Ice beam will still kill Roserade without using a shield.
If you plan to perform Roserade with Grass Knot, keep in mind that Pokémon such as Florizarre and Tropius are better alternatives because Grass type users in Great League due to their volume and constant damage. Roserade may not fit comfortably into the Great League section, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a solid choice in all leagues, which brings us to our next format …
Ultra League (Open and Premier):
Roserade may well have a place to be an anti-meta killer in the Ultra League, both Open and Premier. The thought of a Grass + Poison Pokémon type that will now have access to a Fire type movement, can cause a menacing presence against the current UL meta which includes Pokémon seen in almost any game such as Magnezone, Swampert, Florizarre, Abomasnow, Staircase, Melmetal and Registeel.
To have access to Mud bomb also provides a possible solution for its meters which include Charizard, Exeggutorand everyone’s favorite Charm users such as Togekiss and Keyable.
These matches may seem favorable, however, take into consideration that Roserade is not played as standard. Grass user and has much more versatility in a carefully structured team rather than an alternative to the standard Grass users played in UL.
With the right team composition, Roserade has the potential to shine, but by no means replaces any existing Pokémon as it has a unique move set that provides shield pressure and chilling nuclear damage.
Masters League:
Roserade unfortunately doesn’t have a lot of potential in the Master League despite his CP’s ability to reach 3359 (at level 50). There are only a few positive matches being Magnezone, Excadrill and Swampert. In a meta highly inhabited by Dragon guys, Roserade just doesn’t seem to fit well in this league. Weather ball Fire can be useful against Metagross but again, she’ll need shields to keep this fragile flower alive.
PvP Conclusion:
From what we can take from this information, it’s clear that Roserade shines the most in the Ultra League due to its meta and versatility. If PvP is your niche, it is recommended that you look for a decent IV on Community Day (0 Attack, 11 Defense, 14 Stamina for PvP) with the exclusive move set as it will have a solid game in PvP, mostly UL .
PvE Analysis
If PvP isn’t your thing, listen to this. Roserade currently has the highest attack stat of all non-legendaries Grass Pokemon type. This means that XL Roserade will be a beast in Raids, Gym battles and GO Rocket Grunts / Leaders Team. He’s considered a “ glass cannon, ” meaning he’ll be able to deal insane damage, but his defenses are weak when it comes to getting hit. Most things will be a Roserade hit if left unprotected or dodged in raids.
Against weak Pokémon to Grass type movements, Razor foil will be the best Fast Move because it will provide a higher damage count than Bullet Seed. On the other hand, Bullet Seed will generate energy faster which means you will get your charge moves faster which can also provide reliable damage output.
Conclusion
In retrospect, this community day may not be as waste of time as many people thought when announcing this event. Roserade will help take down raid bosses quickly and will be usable in PvP, which is a win-win situation.
Remember to stay safe and maintain social distance when playing if you can leave your home.
