STRAIT – Winter conditions have resulted in the closure of schools in the Detroit metro area.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory until 4 p.m. Tuesday for areas generally south of M-59, and until 11 p.m. for areas generally north of M-59.

At 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday, 52 schools or school districts have reportedly been closed or delayed.

The snow subsides Tuesday evening, with lows ranging from the low to mid-1920s (-5 degrees Celsius).
