Metro Exodus Announces Fully Ray Traced PC Enhanced Edition

One of the perks of Metro Exodus escaping the dark underground tunnels of its predecessors was seeing how beautiful the cold death could be. 4A Games plans to increase their FPS apocalypse even further this spring. The Enhanced PC Edition will trap Exodus’ visuals and lighting even further with extended ray tracing capabilities, higher resolution textures, and other perks. All the better to see these approaching villains and those reflective icy puddles with.

4A Games explains that the Enhanced PC Edition will require a GPU with ray tracing capability as the minimum system specifications. The Enhanced Edition is such an overhaul, they explain, that it will be released as its own product instead of a patch for Exodus. You can get it for free if you already have a copy of Exodus on PC.

Here’s a bit of the technical discussion for you, in the words of 4A.

“We have built a whole new fully ray traced lighting pipeline that brings a number of optimizations, upgrades and new features to the global lighting and emissive lighting that we have developed. with the original version implemented our powerful temporal reconstruction technology to further improve resolution, visual details and performance. our passionate PC fans. ”

The Enhanced Edition for PC equips Exodus lighting by having every light source in the game traced, for example 4A. There is a long list of other upgrades like DLSS 2.0 and 4K resolution texture support. You can find the full list of features on their announcement post.

4A says the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition will launch on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store this spring for free to current Exodus owners.
