Metroid Dread’s new update has some pretty big story implications – Destructoid

And in the Chozo?

We therefore already knew that the Chozo would be strongly linked to the events of Terror of the metroids, but now, thanks to a new blog update and trailer (below), we know how heavy that involvement is.

Featuring Samus arriving on planet ZDR to begin his quest, we are greeted by a “mysterious figure” who is undoubtedly hostile. Interestingly, Nintendo rolls over with this and explains why Samus is losing his powers in Metroid DreaD in a naughty way. The location in the video below is obviously where she starts the game, next to that old video game brown: As a result, her defeat caused, as one might say, “Ability Amnesia.”

They did it! “Amnesia of ability”, you must respect his shamelessness. According to the cheeky blog post which thankfully doesn’t provide any big spoilers just yet, the enemy “appears to be a Chozo” and teases “combat robots with a striking resemblance to a Chozo.” We also take a look at some of Samus’ abilities (she needs it, apparently!) Missile (a freezing shot, duh!), Storm missile (a cluster attack), cross bomb (a bomb that literally explodes in cross formation), booster speed (a quick dash, Metroid fans will remember this one), shinespark (a boost from the speed booster, just like Super Metroid), and the screw attack (classic multi-jump).

I mean … I was already sold Terror of the metroids, but it sells me harder. Chozo anything is really going to immerse me in the history of this new entry in a big way. After seeing these little statues for most of my life, I’m hoping to get a little more in-game goodness with them.
