The Mets and first choice Kumar Rocker already have a deal in place for a contract, sources told The Post.

The Mets selected the Vanderbilt hard-throw right-hander on Sunday night when he surprisingly fell to them with the 10th overall pick.

The 21-year-old will receive a signing bonus of $ 6 million. A source told The Post’s Zach Braziller that there had been rumors of heavy financial demands.

The slot value for the 10th pick is $ 4.74 million.

Rocker – whose deal with the Mets is said to be pending a physical exam – was originally pulled from high school by the Rockies in the 38th round of 2018, but opted to go to college. The Rockies then had the 8th pick overall on Sunday, but Rocker being re-selected by Colorado was not an option. MLB rules state that a player must sign a consent form to be rewritten by the same organization – Rocker refused to do so, and two picks later he was available for the Mets.

“It was a war to bring him down [to 10th] because we thought the Mets were a good fit for him and a good environment, ”Rocker’s agent Scott Boras told The Post.

When asked if a deal had been made, Boras replied, “The Mets have a strong flavor for him.”

Boras added: “There is an understanding among the participants of what he expects (financially) and what they (the Mets) expect.”
