The New York Mets tied up most of their ends on the refereeing front on Friday night, agreeing to terms with the recently acquired shortstop Francisco lindor and flyer Michael Comfort, avoiding arbitration hearings with both players.

By reports (Mark Feinsand, MLB.com, Anthony DiComo, MLB.com), Lindor will receive $ 22.3 million in 2021 and Conforto $ 12.25 million.

Lindor and Conforto, both 27, are candidates to receive multi-year extensions from the Mets ahead of the 2022 offseason, when both are expected to enter the free market as free agents.

The Mets acquired Lindor – with the right-hander Carlos Carrasco – from Cleveland on January 7 in exchange for infielders Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenezand prospects Josh wolf (2nd round 2019, right-handed) and Isaiah Greene (2020 compensation choice, outfielder).

During Lindor’s introductory press conference, the dynamic shortstop noted that he would be open to signature of an extension with the Mets, but hasn’t discussed anything with the team yet. The general consensus on the salary figures allows Lindor to free up more than $ 30 million a year in his new deal.

Conforto and the Mets are reportedly ready to discuss a contract extension, as DiComo noted in December (MLB.com), but by all accounts these wheels have not yet started to turn.

outraged Jd davis – who will go to an arbitration hearing with the Mets next month after being unable to reach a deal on Friday – all other players eligible for arbitration on New York’s roster have agreed to terms with the Put on respective one-year agreements.

Jacob Resnick of Metsmerized shared the full list of settlements on Twitter on Friday evening.

With a large contingent of the Mets’ active roster now spoken, contractually, for the 2021 season ($ 71.4 million total pledged for players eligible for arbitration; $ 54.7 million on Friday, alone), he all that remains is to fill in the rest of the gaps.
