It goes bad for the Mets everywhere.

Chief Executive Brodie Van Wagenen announced Monday that Yoenis Cespedes had been fractured at the right ankle as a result of a "violent crash" on his Port St. Lucie ranch.

Cespedes is on the injured list after a low-season stub operation, but met the team in Miami on Friday, and Van Wagenen was encouraged by what he saw. The accident occurred Saturday.

Cespedes is now at the hospital meeting for a special surgery with the Mets doctors, and no schedule for his return was available.

After this season, Céspedes still has a contract year of $ 110 million over four years.
