Mets manager Luis Rojas was suspended for two games on Monday and fined an undisclosed amount for his outburst in Sunday’s 7-6 win over the Pirates, the league said.
Rojas was sent off in the first inning after arguing with plate umpire Jeremy Riggs, who ruled over a Kevin Newman dribbler despite Rojas and Mets pitcher Taijuan Walker felt that it was ‘was a fault.
The game led to great confusion and the Pirates scored three points to take a 6-0 lead.
In a statement, the MLB described the Rojas explosion as an “excessive discussion”.
Rojas will miss Monday and Tuesday’s game against the Reds in Cincinnati, with bench coach Dave Jauss taking over the management duties.
