The Mets leave Steven Matz.
The team sent the 29-year-old southpaw to the Blue Jays on Wednesday night, receiving in return three prospects who have yet to be named, The Post confirmed.
The Mets struck a one-year, $ 5.2 million deal with Matz in early December to avoid arbitration.
He struggled in the shortened 2020 COVID-19 season, going from 0 to 5 with a 9.68 ERA in six starts and three relief appearances. He lost his place in the starting rotation, eventually landing on the injured list with shoulder discomfort.

The Mets have reinforced a formidable rotation this offseason, adding Carlos Carrasco and Joey Lucchesi to a crew that includes Jacob deGrom, Marcus Stroman, David Peterson and Noah Syndergaard, who are expected to return from Tommy John surgery a few months after the 2021 season. Robert Gsellman and Seth Lugo will also fight for the starts.
Free agent pitcher Trevor Bauer is still above the Mets. The team made an offer to the winner of Cy Young 2020 this offseason, although he has also been linked with the Blue Jays, Angels and Dodgers.
