The New York Yankees and New York Mets begin a three-game series Friday night that will have massive playoff implications for both teams. The Mets, for their part, have been reduced to longshot status when it comes to the playoffs. The Mets come into play on Friday with a 70-71 record, which will drop them to five games in the National League East as well as five games in search of second place in the NL wild card. The Mets will send rookie right-hander Tylor Megill (95 ERA + in 70 ⅔ innings) to the mound to start the game.
