The famous Mexican singer, songwriter and accordionist Celso Piña has died. He was 66 years old.

Her label issued a statement that Piña died Wednesday in her home town of Monterrey, Mexico, after suffering a heart attack.

Piña was a pioneer, known for its fusion of traditional Colombian cumbia and tropical sounds with genres such as ska, reggae and hip-hop.

He was known by the nickname "rebel accordion", had published more than 20 albums during his career and had toured around the world.
