At least ten civilians have been killed today, including five children, by fresh bombardments and artillery fire from the United States. Damascus forces against a locality in the Syrian province of Deraa, in the south of the country, activists reported today.
The attacks took place in Al Sahua, a population that has been the target of other attacks in the last hours, according to the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights.
The NGO said that the death toll could increase due to several serious injuries and several missing under the rubble, but without specifying their number.
This attack brings to 126 the number of civilian deaths since the beginning of the government offensive in Deraa on June 19, figure which includes 24 miners and 23 women, according to the latest account of the NGO.
Government planes also bombed the Dera'a Balad district, a rebel-held area in Dara'a, the regional capital, in the past hours, added the NGO.
The offensive has caused the displacement of at least 120,000 civilians since the start of clashes, according to calculations by the Observatory.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) estimates that the number of displaced persons has already increased to 160,000 and most of them have moved to areas close to the Jordanian border, which remains closed.
