Skye Savren-McCormick is pacified at the wedding of her bone marrow donor – to prepare, she practiced in her living room

Shortly before the wedding, the doctors gave Skye 10% opportunity to live. He was suffering from cancer and needed a bone marrow transplant as quickly as possible to survive.

He had blood and platelet transfusions almost daily and was hospitalized for 10 months due to complications during treatment. Fortunately, a perfect match was found.

Ryals, 26, is registered as a bone marrow donor at the university, while she had just changed specialty and was not sure what it was. she wanted to do. It was a difficult time in her life because she felt lost and insecure. Nevertheless, he had always taken into account the gift of blood and platelets because he knew that it was important.

A year after his registration, he discovered that it was a perfect match for Skye and suddenly, his life resumed his goal.

"It changed everything," said Ryals. "It has become my number one priority from this moment."

Because bone marrow donation is anonymous, the two did not meet each other. However, since this surgery, both have been linked.

Sadly, Skye received more horrible news: she had developed a second form of cancer, this time post-lymphoproliferative transplantation, which occurs in less than 1% of bone marrow transplant recipients. However, after chemotherapy and more bone marrow transplants, Skye did it.

"She's a fighter, she's full of guts, and she just has the best attitude, and I think everyone could learn something, a 3-year-old girl," says Ryals.

The two finally met at the wedding of Ryals

Shortly after Skye's first transplant, Ryals sent an anonymous letter through the non-profit association Be the Match and shared his thoughts on how whose gift to Skye gave a purpose. The Savren-McCormick family sent him an anonymous letter

At one point, both families Ryals and Skye contacted Be the Match saying that they would like to meet each other. Their relationship began with email, followed by a phone call and a lot of text messages.

When Skye's birthday arrived, Ryals sent him a gift with an invitation to be his little page at his wedding.

"We were very surprised at how sweet it was," said Savren-McCormick

at the time, Skye was under oxygen, but as soon as she was out, the doctors said that it would be nice to attend the wedding. "We were at the front, looking around us, and she [Ryals] came in and immediately approached Skye and got on her knees," Savren-McCormick said. "Skye gave him a big hug, all night they were sitting together."

"It was so cute," he added. "It was like they were in love."

Skye and Ryals share a special bond

As soon as they saw each other, they formed an instant connection. Although the girl is too young to realize that Ryals has helped her save her life, she knows very well that she is someone special, according to her mother.

"I'm looking forward to seeing Skye grow up and continue this relationship with Hayden." Savren-McCormick said, "Anyone could be someone to save a life," Savren-McCormick said. Do not need to be a superhero. "

" She's everything to me, "he said." And all this trip, I've never seen it like I helped him, because it was an honor to do it, and it was a privilege for me to do it. "

" In my eyes, is it who saved me. "19659003] Source: cnn.com
