The Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) approved the business model of the companies resulting from the functional separation process of Teléfonos de México (Telmex) and Teléfonos del Noroeste ( Telnor), the companies of Carlos Slim's telecommunications group, América Móvil
The regulator said in a statement on Friday that America Móvil, as the preponderant in the telecommunications sector, should submit its proposal for statutes constituent of UMT and UMNOR (the wholesale companies resulting from the process of separation between Telmex and Telnor, respectively), as well as the proposed articles of SUM, the subcontracting company of ; UMNOR.
Explain that the approved articles of incorporation establish the exclusive supply of wholesale telecommunication services as the business purpose of new businesses, that is, they will not provide service to the end user, but only to the operators, in addition the statutes will regulate their structures and the functioning of the decision-making, administrative and corporate governance bodies during the transition period.

The statutes approved by the FTI set 31 December 2018 as the deadline to form an UMT and UMNOR Independent Board of Directors which operates definitively.
