Apple redefines the mapping application of the iPhone from scratch with its own data set, but the Dutch company TomTom NV will remain a provider of information for the program, said Friday the technology giant. Apple has not said how this will change the way it uses TomTom's data, but the shares of the Amsterdam-based company have fallen after the news release.
He said that he will completely review his Maps application – the most used of his iPhone – with data collected by his own fleet of trucks equipped with sensors and anonymous information that users of their smartphones can decide to share.

Apple said that it will begin to introduce changes this fall, with new maps of the north of California.
The TechCrunch Tech Publication reported Apple's plans earlier. After the release, TomTom shares fell to 5% of their session highs, ending with a 1.7% drop to 7.76 euros.
