Facebook continues to perform various movements with the intent of protecting the personal data of its users. On this occasion, social network officials announced that from today, developers will have some restrictions on access to information people.

Specifically, changes have been made to the form in which some of its APIs operate. Now it will only be possible to discover public content from pages and some verified public profiles. The page search is back in the pages API, however, developers will need prior permission to make it work. This will be obtained in the process of approval of the application. Similarly, those who use the Marketing API to manage their ads must approve the same process.

On the other hand, other APIs will cease to function because of their low level of adoption. This is the case of the Graph API Explorer application, which made it possible to test various data queries. Other tools such as searching for themes and the ability to create profile images and videos of other apps have also been removed.

With these restrictions, Facebook aims to improve the negative image the past few months. Scandals like Cambridge Analytica have made them rethink the care of information, but it does not seem to be a situation that will be forgotten in the short term.
