The activity is part of the strategy undertaken to strengthen the identification of the virus, increasing the effectiveness of pharmacological treatments, promoting the life expectancy of infected people, said the attending physician of Outpatient Center for Prevention and Care in AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (Capasits) Omar Pérez Carreón .
These rapid tests are performed in places of high social concentration, increasing the number of people who practice the study and thus achieve faster detections, accelerate medical care and reduce the frequency of frequent diseases in people affected by HIV .
By identifying people who did not know that they were living with HIV, not only are they linked to medical services, but the risk of contagion to others is reduced, he added Perez Carreón .
Studies of high sensitivity and specificity are also conducted free of charge and confidentially in the installations of Capasits La Paz located in Melchor Ocampo and Licenciado Verdad, where general medical, pediatric and psychological services are also available to patients who have sexually transmitted infections.
