The Panamanian government has created an immigration office to facilitate the reunification of Venezuelan families living in Central America, the commission said Tuesday.
Panama's National Migration Service has announced the adoption of a decree establishing the Office of Humanitarian Affairs for Residents of Venezuela.
The government of this country explained that Venezuelan citizens could ask this new section to proceed with the family reunification procedure for humanitarian reasons and ask for stamped visas for yours who wanted to visit them at a specific date.
The announcement that the consulates of Panama abroad, including the one operating in Caracas, will grant the said visas the prior authorization of the new office.
In recent years, thousands of Venezuelans have settled in Panama to escape the political and economic crisis of the South American country. The government of Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela has imposed the visa requirement for Venezuelans since October 2017 for security reasons and as a result of what he considered from then on, the deterioration of institutions in Venezuela.
The measure taken at that time had reduced the flow of Venezuelans, according to the Panamanian authorities.
