The United States has reported a decline in the number of new claims for unemployment benefits, after the number of beneficiaries of this allowance has moved to its lowest level in 45 years.
The decline indicates an improvement in labor market conditions.
Initial orders for this benefit decreased by 2,000 to a seasonally adjusted 214 thousand requests In the week that ended on October 27, the US Department of Labor explained Thursday.
Economists consulted by Reuters calculated that the applications were in 213 thousand.
The figure for the previous week has been revised to show a thousand more orders than originally reported.
Requests were reduced to 202,000 during the week up to September 15, the lowest since November 1969.
The report also shows that the number of people still receiving subsidies after a first week of help decreased by 7,000, to stay in 1.63 million, in the week which ended on October 20th.
This drop put the index at its lowest level since July 1973.
