The episode 9×05 of "The walking Dead"This was screened as the big goodbye of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), a character who changed the TV story forever, but that turned out to be a bad joke, and then our review with the revealers of "What Comes After".
Rick, feverish with hurt and pain, finds himself in his mind with those already dead: Shane, Hershel, Sasha; everyone encourages him to continue not to fall asleep, because it means to die, given the circumstances (he is persecuted by thousands of deaths). During the almost 45 minutes that the episode lasted, we saw Rick go over the same scenarios that marked the beginning of the series. This was, in every respect, the farewell ceremony.
The meeting with Shane was refreshing, a dark humor that only Jon Bernthal had put in the series; Hershell (Scott Wilson) was warm, but also tragic if we consider the recent death of the actor. I can not understand why Sasha came back and no others, like Laurie or Carl. It's sad because the series never knew what to do with the character of Sonequa Martin Green.
Moments later, Rick finds himself on the bridge that he so wanted to protect and finds that the only way to kill the dead who persecute him is to destroy him, thanks to the miraculous appearance of several cartridges of dynamite.
"The walking Dead"He could have killed Rick at that time, but he did not do it and after the explosion, his body floats on the shore, where he is found, also miraculously, by Jadis (Pollyana McIntosh) has been a mystery in the series since the seventh season, Rick will live, but far away.
Rick will not be back in the series, but in TV movies, which is good news for his fans. but a very bad one for those who were expecting a conclusion to this series. It was reasonable not to see the end of "The walking Dead"in many years, but the idea of knowing that the story of Rick was coming to an end was satisfactory.
Rick will live, AMC and Fox will have more stories to build a franchise that provides for a 10-year extension (they said so themselves) and fans will be hanging up to see who will see Rick's reunion, Michonne and Judith.
The public deserves real ends, not simulacra. Perhaps the only winners with all this confusion are those millions of spectators who, week after week since the seventh season, have left the boat. Those who think "I told you" when you tell them the disappointment of this chapter. It's a much more compelling story than any other rescue helicopter.
