Inegi records slight growth in October

CITY OF MEXICO (Notimex) .- Last October, 115 thousand 362 light vehicles were sold in the country, a figure which represents a slight recovery of 0.61% over the previous month, with 114 000 653 units sold, reported Inegi.

According to the most recent figures from the administrative register of the automotive light vehicle industry of the institute, out of the 21 automobile brands, Nissan managed to place 24,000 units out of a total of 21,000 units during the tenth month of 2018; while General Motors sold 19 thousand 360 vehicles and Volkswagen 14 thousand 814 cars.

Similarly, the Japanese Toyota company sold 8,578 units; the South Korean KIA, eight thousand 396 vehicles; and Fiat Chrysler, six thousand, 777 automobiles.

Meanwhile, Honda has put into circulation five thousand 818 vehicles; Ford Motor five thousand 336; Mazda five thousand 09; Hyundai four thousand 151; Renault two thousand 556; and Susuki two thousand 452 units.

In turn, Mercedes Benz sold in October this year a thousand 869 units; the German BMW 380 thousand; Audi mille 197; and Peugeot 808 cars.

In addition, Inegi pointed out that with the annualized figures, the sector recorded a decline in the sale of light cars in October, with 115,362 sales, or 6.45% less than the same month in 2017. The automobile estimates that a high probability of closing the year with sales below one million 450,000.

With this decline in sales, the light-duty vehicle sector has accumulated 17 months of consecutive sales decline, standing at one million 143,741 units.
