A 33-year-old Australian died in Australia after being attacked by a shark on Monday.

The incident took place in Cid Harbor on the Whitsunday Islands of Queensland – a popular tourist destination in Australia – and is the third at the same location, although the previous two were not fatal.

The victim was swimming with friends when the attack is produced, according to the police.

The man was rescued from the water with one leg and one arm injured and died later in the hospital, authorities said.

"He suffered very serious bites, significant blood loss and cardiac arrest," said Ben McCauley of Central Rescue Group Queensland.

Since September, there have been three shark attacks on the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland.

The other two non-lethal encounters with sharks took place in September.

Nail A 12-year-old girl and a 46-year-old woman were injured in separate attacks at Cid Harbor in a 23-hour period.

The girl was amputated from one leg.

As reported in the Australian Shark Attack Archive, not counting the Monday incident, one person died and 16 others were injured during unmotivated shark attacks in Australia this year.
