With 36 votes in favor and 6 abstentions, local Congressmen have appointed Bernardo González Garza as president of the Monterrey City Council, which will be in charge of the municipality for 60 days, while extraordinary elections are held to elect a mayor. .
It took six days for legislators to reach an agreement and appoint Gonzalez, after an attempt in which they omitted Alberto Palomino, director of Sinergia Deportiva.
Early on, Bernardo González made an appearance at the local Congress to report on the security issue and came accompanied by the Secretary General of the Government, Manuel González.
However, it was not until 7:30 pm when the Steering Committee resumed the permanent session to approve by majority vote the list of advisers presided over by the former Secretary of State Security.
Soon, the issue was uploaded to the plenary, where the bench of the citizen movement refrained from this designation and asked that everything be left at the last minute.
Luis Donaldo Colosio, coordinator of the aforementioned group, criticized the fact that the approved opinion was the product of simulations and impositions, without being held responsible for his assertions.
"The final result of this opinion was more the result of simulations or last-minute impositions than after many days of intense debate, proposals, dialogues, consensus, finally, at the last minute and after obtaining a consensus in a general way, unanimously on more than one occasion, I had to impregnate this last list, "he said.
Francisco Cienfuegos, leader of the PRI, defended the appointment of Gonzalez by ensuring that he takes the reins of the municipality seriously and behaves impartially in the framework of the extraordinary electoral process.
"What we are asking for is that there be seriousness, professionalism, that someone has the reins of the municipality and that he knows how to build impartially what the people of Monterrey demand, "he said.
Likewise, Carlos de la Fuente, PAN coordinator, said that he was in agreement with the proposal, because Bernardo González is a profile that will act independently of the electoral process and provide legal certainty for residents of Monterrey.
"We want citizens to be served and the Council does not focus on the electoral process, hopefully, and we all support the proposal of the Governance Committee," he said.
After the approval, Marco González, president of the local Congress, appointed a special commission to receive and convey the protest to Bernardo González as the new president of the city council.
Finally, the president of the Congress instructed Bernardo that today, at 10 o'clock, a delegation of deputies accompanies him to the Cabildo de Monterrey to address the protest due to the rest of the Council members.

Promises transparency
After taking up the protest as president of Monterrey City Council, Bernardo González Garza offered to serve with transparency.
According to González Garza, he resigned from the state's public security secretariat at about 4 pm, and repeatedly stated that he did not know which deputies had proposed him to sit for a two-month mission.
On the other hand, he indicated that he would meet with each of the current municipal secretaries to later make a decision regarding the stay and departure.
In addition, he said, one of his commitments is that the extraordinary electoral process that is taking place on 16 December will take place in the utmost tranquility.
