The trailer, which struck at least 10 vehicles on the Mexico-Toluca highway at Puerta Santa Fe, left at least seven dead and several injured, said Raymundo Collins, Secretary of Public Security in the capital.
Collins explained that emergency services work to count the wounded and free the bodies of the injured vehicles.
He explained that the first versions indicated that the trailer had a mechanical failure and struck several vehicles.
Previously, paramedics had reported that a trailer traveling on the Mexico-Toluca Expressway had struck at least 15 vehicles.
