Four of them struck the body of the victim. They were mortal. The ex-Beatle died a few minutes later on the way to Roosevelt Hospital. The world was in shock.

The perpetrator of the murder was arrested immediately. Chapman had stayed there contemplating his bloody work. He still held his weapon with both hands.
