The investigating authority of the Federal Commission for Economic Competition (Cofece) has found evidence of contracts being held by companies affiliated with the CIE with various centers and promoters of shows, outside their group, in which it was established that they would be the exclusive suppliers of the ticketing service, as well as various clauses reinforcing said exclusivity.

"With these behaviors, it was feared that they could not replace other companies issuing banknotes or substantially prevent their market access," said Cofece in a published document.

However, the entire Commission or Commission accepted, with adjustments, "the undertakings presented by the Inter-American Entertainment Society (CIE), OCESA Entertainment (OCESA), Computer Ticket Sales (VBC), ETK Tickets (ETK) , operator of entertainment centers (operator) and real estate entertainment centers (ICESA) in order to restore competition in the live performance production, entertainment center and sales markets. automated ticketing ".

CIE fulfills its commitments

Grupo CIE and several of its companies have applied for the exemption in exchange for their commitment to carry out actions aimed at restoring competition and that the authority is accepted. This inquiry is therefore closed in advance, in accordance with the law.

"The economic agents involved in an investigation of this type of behavior have the right to claim the benefit for a single occasion".

"The Federal Law on Economic Competition allows economic agents involved in an investigation to submit legally and economically viable commitments, with the aim of restoring the process of competition and free competition in the market under investigation and of close the file in advance, while avoiding possible imposition of fines, since they voluntarily agree to comply with remedial measures. Commitments submitted by the agent economic can be completely changed when he considers it, as it happened in this case ".

The Cofece then indicated that it undertook to restore competition on the market for the production and promotion of live shows, the operation of entertainment centers and the automated sale of tickets.

Cofece has investigated possible monopolistic practices in this market.

Compliance with the commitments will be verified by the Federal Commission for Economic Competition through various follow-up measures. If they do not respect them, they risk a fine of up to 8% of their income.
