Mexico's country risk closed the session on Friday 9 November at 210 basis points, an increase of 3 basis points from the previous day, 8 November.
So far this year, Mexico's country risk has reached a maximum of 231 points (June 14) and a 170 points minimum (February 1st).
Country risk is calculated by investment bank JP Morgan Chase using its emerging market bond indicator (EMBI) and is measured by the difference between the average yield of Mexico's sovereign bonds. and the performance of US Treasury bonds.
Thus, a higher index figure indicates a higher risk of the country's bonds because the possibility of default increases relative to its payment obligations.
