It's possible that the demon SRT, a monster in the quarter mile, will be gone forever, but the new Dodge lineup Challenger 2019 still has a lot of muscle. And so, not to let a good engine get lost, Dodge will put the 6.2-liter Hemi V8 supercharged on the Demon in a new Challenger: SRT Hellcat Redeye 2019 .

Sports eyes reddened by his Hellcat insignia – and as evidence that he is possessed by the demon – the Redeye has 797 horses and 707 foot-pounds of torque. Yes: it's a bit less than the 808 horsepower and 717 foot-pounds of the Demon (or 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft with 100-octane fuel), but the Redeye engine remains the most powerful V8 currently in production, according to Dodge. It is also more powerful than many supercars.

The Redeye also offers supercars performance. Dodge says it's going from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, running the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds at 131 mph, hitting a top speed of 203 mph. Keep in mind that the quarter-mile time applies only to the Widebody version, which adds wider tires and their corresponding fenders to cover them. The standard version takes 0.3 seconds more.

Dodge has also updated some current models of its Challenger lineup for 2019. The Hemi V8 6.2-liter Supercharged now produces 717 hp and 656 pound-feet of torque, compared to 707 hp and 650 lb-ft. The Widebody Hellcat will now run the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds at 127 mph, reaching a top speed of 195 mph, according to Dodge. The standard version is a little slower in the quarter-mile (11.2 seconds at 125 mph), but has a higher maximum speed of 199 mph.

SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye are manufactured with some of the Demon electronic systems, including start (or launch) control, assistance with launching and blocking the line, which locks the front brakes to burn the tires more easily. Challenger's main rivals, the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro, already offer this feature. The Hellcats are also gaining Demon's Par Reserve system, which helps boost boost while the car is on the line to compete in the quarter mile.

The Widebody option is now available in the Challenger R / T model Scat Pack lower level. The Scat Group is equipped with a naturally aspirated 6.4 liter Hemi V8 engine that generates 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Dodge also added launch control, launch assistance and line lock for the 2019 model, as well as the redesigned suspension and a retracted rear wing of the Hellcat. Dodge also made some style adjustments throughout the range, including a retro double-snorkel cap for the Hellcat models, inspired by the muscle cars of the '60s and' 70s.

Dodge has not released any price information, but said that the Scat Pack will start under $ 40,000. The Hellcat models will have a higher price, and Dodge will likely continue to sell Challenger variants with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which will be lower than the Scat Pack price. Dodge expects the 2019 Challengers to begin appearing at dealerships later this year.
