Cheap airline Ryanair says Friday night storms, coupled with the shortage of air traffic control personnel, caused 14 canceled flights to Stansted Airport. Other airports in the London area, Luton, Gatwick and Heathrow also warned of delays.
Nats, the UK's air traffic control service, says the unpredictable nature of storms means planes can not fly their usual routes.
The service says that thunderstorms actually block large areas of airspace because planes can not cross them.
Eurotunnel's passengers faced a third day of service disruption by the canal.
