Facebook reports Monday that it informs more than 800,000 users that a software error has temporarily unlocked people on the social network and its messenger service.
The error was active between May 29 and June 5 and was repaired, according to the company, which is trying to regain the trust of its users after the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
"We know that the ability to block somebody is important," acknowledged the privacy officer, Erin Egan, in a blog. "We would like to apologize and explain what happened," he said.
