Femsa, via Solistica and Grupo QUIMMCO, they have come up with the prototype of an electric vehicle presented Tuesday as part of the Mainforum of Nuevo León.

The integration of the electric powertrain solution for this vehicle has been developed by the QUIMMCO Technology Center in line with the operational and social responsibility needs of FEMSA and its business units.

In a statement, Alex Theissen, Director of Institutional Relations of FEMSA Negocios Estratégicos, explained that "the project contributes to the sustainable mobility of operations by reducing emissions, thus seeking to improve air quality in urban areas. from Mexico". .

He added that "the unit is more comfortable for the operator to operate by generating less vibrations and by not emitting noise compared to a diesel unit, we ensure better coexistence with the communities where we operate. "

Currently, five additional units are being built, with the same characteristics, to conduct pilot tests over the coming months in FEMSA's business units, he explained.

He added that at least one of them would be integrated into a circuit within a project run by the ITESM, corresponding to a program promoted by the Secretariat to Energy and the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT).

The prototype presented is part of the FEMSA Sustainable Mobility Committee projects, born in 2013, with the aim of developing and coordinating strategies for the use of clean technologies and alternative fuels, to provide vehicle operations. in a sustainable manner, thereby reducing the consumption of fossil fuels.

"Through the FEMSA Sustainable Mobility Committee, a technology co-development consortium has been established with the QUIMMCO Sustainable Vehicles Technology Center, with profitable performance for FEMSA operations", said Víctor Treviño, FEMSA Director of Sustainability and Energy. .

Within this committee, she is responsible for FEMSA's technical areas of sustainability and procurement, as well as companies, Coca-Cola FEMSA, OXXO, Solistica and Heineken.

For its part, QUIMMCO has developed this prototype as part of its Atmovum initiative, its technological arm focused on the development of innovative solutions for sustainable urban mobility.
