MILAN (Reuters) – The boards of directors of Fiat Chrysler and Ferrari car groups will meet separately this Saturday, for the succession of Sergio Marchionne, the general manager of both automakers, who is on sick leave, said the Automotive News.
The magazine, quoting sources close to the case, also said that Louis Carey Camilleri, a member of Ferrari's board of directors and former chairman of Philip Morris International, will be appointed general manager of Ferrari
John Elkann, whose mother comes from the Italian Agnelli family, who controls both Fiat Ch Rysler (FCA) as Ferrari, would be named president of Ferrari, the magazine added.
It was not clear if Fiat Chrysler's board would choose a successor on Saturday.
Fiat Chrysler and Ferrari refused to comment on this information
Initially, Marchionne's mandate, which saved Fiat and Chrysler from bankruptcy after taking the wheel of the Italian automaker in 2004, was to end in April 2019.
But the entrepreneur, 66, has recently undergone shoulder surgery and has been recovering. He has not appeared in public since June 26, which has fueled speculation about his state of health
