To see women as a form of entertainment is almost a habit. This is not a novelty, but rather the opposite, to see that stadium cameras focus on attractive women in the public at matches and the 2018 World Cup was not the exception, on the contrary …

This is part of the coverage of the World Cup; in some cases, they are given considerable space to take advantage of this "varied" beauty in an event where women and men from all over the world meet in the same space. However, is it really necessary to designate women and motivate the public to make comments of all kinds?

With all the changes that have occurred in various industries around the world about the position of women as the main victim of sexism, it was time that they also come to the fields of football, or rather, the stands. Therefore, to fight against sexism at the 2018 World Cup that has been held since June 14 in Russia, the governing body of FIFA ordered broadcasters to stop focusing on the "attractive women" who are in the stands celebrating the games.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, one of FIFA's leaders, Federico Addiechi, has commented: "We did it with individual stations. We did it with our broadcasting services" with the purpose to be proactive and to fight something that is considered false.

This idea came, in large part, after some sports journalists, were sexual assault during the execution of a match cover. One of the most notorious cases is that of journalist Julia Guimarães, who was outside the stadium after the match between Senegal and Japan when a man tried to kiss him while he was doing his job.

Addiechi also commented that FIFA worked with the Russian authorities and local organizers to identify the fanatics who attack the reporters and to whom their FAN-ID was removed, a document that tells them allows to enter the stadiums. Another consequence? They were forced to leave the country immediately.

An agency created a gallery entitled "The most beautiful fans of the Copa del Monde ". After some criticism, the agency lowered the gallery, apologized saying that it was an "unfortunate mistake" and that she would launch an investigation at the international level.

Sexism is not just a problem that has been handled at one of the most important sports tournaments in the world. Also racism and homophobia they worried the organizers and even more so if we consider that Russia "prohibits" homosexuality with a series of laws. Not to mention the famous "Eh, puto" that has defeated many Mexican fans to be considered a sign of homophobia.

However, sexism was placed as the ultimate proof of discrimination according to Fare Network, an organization that fights against inequalities in this sport.
