FILO will start editing in the new headquarters

With activities for audiences of all ages, the 38th edition of the International Book Fair of Oaxaca (FILO) begins this Saturday, in a new headquarters and with new proposals. The literary evening, which includes among its guests the French philosopher and sociologist Gilles Lipovetsky, will be held for the first time at the Oaxaca Culture and Congress Center (CCCO), after several years (since 1975) at the 39, Alameda de León, in the historical center of the capital.

Authors such as Emiliano Monge, Mónica Lavín, Lydia Cacho, Margo Glantz, Denise Dresser, Lorea Canales, Alberto Manguel, Paul Theroux, Jon Lee Anderson, Patricio Pron, Álvaro Uribe, Ray Loriga, Guillermo Arriaga, Alberto Ruy-Sánchez and Néstor García they are added to this edition for which better conditions are expected in their development.

The FILO board announced that the edition would cover more than 400 activities (with 230 national and foreign guests), divided into six blocks: Literary, Children and Youth, FILO, FILOando, My First Literary Meeting and Professional Program.

Among the activities to be realized, there will be an illustrated stand-up with the South American designers Liniers and Montt. Children will be able to attend the concerts of Luis Pescetti (who was already in Oaxaca at the Guelaguetza festivities in 2017) and the children's rock band Los Patita de Perro (called on other occasions by FILO). In addition, the Chilean program show will be back 31 minutes

With its new headquarters, the show hopes to become "the most endearing literary encounter and the project to promote reading in Latin America," stressed the organization of the program, while five visitor transfer routes were reported .

In this edition, the fair will be honored by Amparo Dávila, narrator of Zacatecan (winner of the Xavier Villaurrutia Award of 1977 by Petrified trees and the 2015 Medal of Fine Arts) and Francisco Hinojosa, author of books such as The worst woman in the world. There will also be posthumous tributes to writer and translator Sergio Pitol, narrator and cultural promoter Juan José Arreola and journalist, writer and editor Huberto Batis.

The Civil Association of Friends of the Institute of Graphic Arts of Oaxaca (IAGO) and the Photographic Center Manuel Álvarez Bravo (CFAMB) will be recognized for their career in favor of art and for the profit of the company of Oaxaca.

As in 2017, the fair will continue its campaign Tejamos Oaxaca, a company following the earthquakes of September of last year and around which it will share some of the results.
