The most representative unipersonal scenic work of the country can be seen in the halls of Guadalajara, venue of the Monologue Festival "Teatro a una voz" 2018, to be held from 15 to 21 July.

This is a national circuit that arrives in Jalisco for the fifth time in a row and for the first time in Guadalajara. Regarded as one of the most important theatrical meetings in Mexico for the quality and diversity of the proposals, it has been presented for 14 years to 12 states for a month and a half and includes seven national proposals that will be presented at the Jaime Theater Torres Bodet, the theater Martin Casillas Alarife and the variety art laboratory (Larva).

"It's a very rich program, from a selection made in 120 proposals that come from the country, seven were selected, they are of very high quality, there is for everyone, some for children, others for young people and adults, they are very different in their styles, "says Sandra Escatel, coordinator of the Theater of the Ministry of Culture of Jalisco.

What the public will appreciate is the "jewels" of the performing arts in the country, compares Escatel. For example, in the program there are three companies Jalisco: "I'm not a failure", written by Mario García Torres and directed by Claudio Valdés Kuri; "The stars in the castle", written by Hasam Díaz and directed by Claudia Recinos, and "Lluvia", written by Alejandro Rodríguez and directed by Susana Romo, a work intended for young people and contemporary adults who has just spent a season at Torres Bodet.

"It's very hot on this tour," says Liliana Rojas, director of Jaime Torres Bodet Theater. "It's like an ode to melancholy and memory, to all those scenes that the rains send us over and over again."

The program also includes a Chiapas work from the company La Pochota. It's "Casquito", written, directed and performed by Alexis Robles, which alludes to the love a child feels for his father, whom he considers to be one of his super favorite heroes. Veracruz is also represented by Martín Zapata's play "El Inusitado Romance by Petreck Boll", while from Mexico City, two monologues will be presented: "Tijuana" by Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol, directed by Gabino Rodríguez, and "Siuatl of Escapes". ", guerillas and fandangos, of Braulio Amadis.

The Monologues Festival is 14 years old. The circuit is composed of the states of Jalisco, Sonora, Sinaloa, Durango, Coahuila, Tamaulipas, Colima, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Michoacán and Mexico. It is these entities that are responsible for selecting works to bring them to different scenarios.

"We look at the quality of the staging, the performances, the program, but also the characteristics of the assembly to be able to adapt them to different spaces, because there are gigantic spaces of more than a thousand people So, we are trying to meditate on something that can appeal to audiences in all cities, "adds Sandra Escatel.
