Erika is the daughter of the American model Tony Starr and the businessman Armando Sotres Castañeda. Tony Starr separated from Sotres when Erika was a girl and married the girl. Mexican businessman Jaime Camil Garza, who treated Erika and her sisters as if they were their own daughters, so Erika changed the name to Issabela and took the name Camil.
