The virtual elected president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced this Friday that Manuel Bartlett will be appointed managing director of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and Octavio Romero Oropeza as director of Pemex.

Bartlett graduated in law from the Autonomous University of Mexico . He holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, as well as a Ph.D. in Political Science from UNAM

He was Senator of the Republic in legislative assemblies LVIII and LIX (2000-2006).

From 1993 to 1999, he served as governor of the state of Puebla and was Secretary of Public Education from 1988 to 1992. He also headed the Ministry of Education. Interior during the administration of Miguel de la Madrid.

In 1987 and 1999, he was PRI pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in an internal process. He was also Secretary General of the PRI National Executive Committee in 1981.

In 1997, he was a candidate for the municipal presidency of the Center, Tabasco. And from 1998 to 2000, he chaired Tabasco's executive committee.

He was also a professor of mathematics at the College of Science and Humanities of Tabasco, professor of algebra and statistics at the University Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco. He also worked in the field of agricultural engineering at Banca Serfín and from 1982 to 1987 he was editorialist on XEVA radio in Tabasco.
