Google has updated Gmail so you can read and create offline e-mails. The new feature is being released to Gmail accounts around the world, but there are many chances that you already have access to offline. Below, we show you how to find the configuration and route your communications to a territory where Wi-Fi and LTE are afraid to walk.
Note: Offline only works in the Chrome web browser (version 61 or later) of other browsers or phone applications, we will update this article.
Switch to new Gmail mode
Before you enable offline mode, you must use the new version of Gmail. You can already use it, but if not, there are a number of good reasons to do it. Not only does it offer the ability to use email without an internet connection, but it also features many additions and a slightly redesigned look.
There is a new online preview section that shows all the attachments and allows you to download them without opening the email. There is also the Nudge function that gently reminds you to respond with messages that have been in your inbox, and a confidential mode that allows you to eliminate the possibility for recipients to transfer, copy, download or print messages.
Change your classic Gmail to a new version, open Chrome and access your Gmail account in the usual way. In the upper right corner you will see the gear icon representing the configuration. Click on this and then, in the drop-down menu that appears, you should see the Try New Gmail option. Click here to edit your account.
After a brief recharge, you should see the new and modern design. You are now ready to set the offline mode.
Enable Offline in Gmail
Click the Settings icon again, and select Settings from the drop-down menu.
You will be presented a complete list of options in the main part of the screen. When entering the settings for the first time, the General section is displayed. If you look at the far right of the top line, you will see that there is now an option for Offline. Select it
The menu is a little rarer in this section because it only has the option to enable disconnected mail. Click here and other options will appear.
The one allows Gmail to download attachments – very useful if you want to use them offline – while the other option allows you to decide if you want to keep offline data on your PC or delete them once you have logged out of Gmail.
If you share your PC with other people or if you are concerned about email security issues on your device, click Remove Data Off My Computer; Otherwise, select the Keep data offline check box on my computer.

Google says that to work offline, it must already be loaded before the connection is lost. This means that you must make sure to open a browser tab and access Gmail before leaving the house.
