LGTBI community demands respect in March in El Salvador

San Salvador.- Hundreds of members of the Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual and Intersexual (19459005) community of El Salvador marched today in the main streets of the capital to demand that they respect their rights.

The march flooded about 4 kilometers from the streets of an exclusive area of ​​the capital to the monument to the Divine Savior of the World with the colors of arcoíris [19659003] music and slogans with which they joined the commemorative events of the International Day of Pride LGTBI which is celebrated every 28th of June.

Participants, who also carried signs and posters, demanded that the state of Central America respect their rights and put an end to the impunity of killing people LGTBI . Social organizations, some 600 members of this community have been murdered over the last 23 years, crimes attributed mainly to gang groups and state security organs.

These people also called on Congress members to approve a law on gender identity, the proposal of which was presented on March 22 by the pro-government Farabundo Martí government for National Liberation (FMLN).

The community for sexual diversity has required for years that lawmakers create this law to try to reduce the levels of discrimination suffered by state officials.

According to the records of social organizations, among the first three cities of El Salvador which are San Miguel, Santa Ana and the capital, there are about six thousand members of this group.
