A Mozilla administrator says Google's redesign has made YouTube slower in Firefox and Edge browsers.

Chris Peterson, software program technical administrator, tweeted Tuesday that the site for According to a Sofpedia report, video sharing is up to a fifth of the speed in browsers that are not not Chrome.

"Polymer redesign YouTube is based on the deprecated DOM shadow v0 API implemented only in Chrome, "writes Peterson.

"YouTube is running a" polyfill "of the DOM Shadow type for Firefox and Edge which, as expected, is slower than the native implementation of Chrome: On my laptop, the initial loading of the page takes 5 seconds with the polyfill against 1 without, the navigation performance on the next page is comparable. "

Peterson suggested patches for Firefox – the Mozilla browser and Microsoft Edge that restores YouTube to a previous version using add-ons .

notes that YouTube "still serves the pre-Polymer design" for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, which was launched in 2013 and was replaced by Edge, and suggests that Goog J could have adopted the same approach with Edge and Firefox.

Neither Google, Mozilla, Microsoft nor Peterson responded immediately to a request for comment.
