Nintendo Europe announces a new directive after the departure of Satoru Shibata, after 18 years of service to the company. Now, Stephan Bole, former director of Nintendo France, is the new president, while Koji Miyake, former general manager of human resources at Nintendo Japan, will be the CEO.
The company went through a series of organizational changes, root of the appointment of Nintendo's new president, Shuntaro Furukawa, who succeeded in replacing Tatsumi Kimishima. The announcements were made as part of the 78th General Shareholders' Meeting
Kimishima reflects on the management that was under his command and highlights the successful launch of Nintendo Switch, the hybrid console released the sale at the end of 2017 and which has already generated significant changes in the portable consoles industry.
"I was appointed president after the death of our president, but thanks to the support of many wonderful people -including our shareholders- we launched the switch without problems.I do not think so that I might have retired at a better time Thank you very much " said Kimishima
For his part, Stephan Bole, the new president of Nintendo Europe, commented on his new position and thanked Satoru Shibata for his while emphasizing that he will continue to work in the same line of his mission: "His efforts over the past 18 years have helped bring Nintendo products to generations of players in Europe and beyond. Although many will regret it, I am confident that our new structure will be able to continue our mission of making people smile with our unique gaming experiences " he said.
Bole was in front of Nintendo France during the period 2001-2005, in which it played an important role in strengthening the position of the company on the French market. To date, France is one of the strongest Nintendo markets in the world.
