The Japanese vehicle manufacturer Nissan obtained between April and June a net profit of 892 million euros, down 14.1% from one year to the next. The company attributed the worsening of its results, the decline in sales in some regions, the rise in raw material costs and the appreciation of the yen against other currencies such as than the dollar or the euro. During the aforementioned period, the first quarter of the Japanese financial year, Nissan's operating profit decreased by 28.8% to 840.4 million euros.

Its turnover fell 1.6% to 20,923 million euros. The second largest Japanese manufacturer in the sector sold 1.31 million vehicles worldwide between April and June, 3% less than a year ago

"Our sales fell in the United States and Europe, although in other areas such as Asia or South America are growing, "said vice president of automaker, Joji Tagawa. The executive also pointed out that the problem of the price of materials can be aggravated, due to the trade dispute between the United States – the largest market of Nissan – and other world powers. "We are aware that there are risks for this reason," said Tagawa in reference to the imposition of tariffs on steel and aluminum imports announced in June by US President Donald Trump

. At the end of March 2019, Nissan expects net profit to drop by 33.1% to 3,851 million euros. The company's forecasts report a 6% drop in operating profit to 4,159 million euros, while its business figure would rise 0.4% to reach 92,442 million euros.
