A passenger victim of a "medical problem" died on a flight from Houston to Boston on Tuesday night, according to a Boston CBS report. Two hours after the flight, just before midnight, United Flight 1888 was redirected to the Washington-Dulles Airport in Virginia as a result of a medical emergency on board.
The doctors arrived on the runway when the plane landed, but the passenger was already dead, according to Christina Saull, a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Boston Globe.
"We are saddened to learn that our client is dead," said UN spokesman Jonathan Guerin in a statement. "We offer our deepest condolences to their family." Some passengers of the flight helped the crew save the man and used all the medical equipment available, including an AED defibrillator, said Guerin at WBZ-TV.
Passenger Sharon Kaye of Texas told WBZ-TV that the deceased passenger was a man in his forties who was suffering a heart attack. "Everyone was shocked and saddened by the situation," said Kaye.
The remaining passengers were placed on another flight to Boston and the FBI investigated the incident.
