A little over a month after launch and after a polarized reception, Shadow of the Tomb Raider has been implicated in a controversy after PC users gave it a negative rating after discovering it was on sale, which was considered offensive by the short time it took to lower its price.
According to a report DualShockers, Steam users have started a campaign against Shadow of the Tomb Raider after its price on the platform has decreased by 34% for the standard version and 47% for the special version at a promotional sale started on October 16th. Users felt that this was not fair for those who reserved the title or bought it at launch or later at full price, arguing that a price cut just one month before the release was a deception for consumers. As soon as information circulated among Steam users, those frustrated by Square Enix's decision called the game negative, changing the qualifying status from "very positive" to "varied".
