Lima . The value of the country's total exports increased by 14.34% in May this year, compared with the same month of 2017, announced Sunday the National Institute of Statistics and Information Technology (INEI)

. According to information available as of June 24, 2018, in May this year, exports of traditional products grew by 14.61% and non-traditional shipments by 13.47% compared with the similar month of the previous year.

The traditional products that were distinguished by their greater demand were miners such as copper, gold, iron and silver; oil and gas; as well as fishing.

Non-traditional products included agricultural, fishing, chemical and textile products; however, shipments of mechanical metal products and non-metallic mines decreased.

Import of raw materials. During the month of analysis, imports of raw materials and intermediate products registered an increase of 28.22% over the value recorded in May 2017.

The purchase of consumer goods also showed a positive behavior (2, 62%) and the importation of equipment goods (6.76%).

Finally, INEI clarified that, with information as of June 24 this year, the total import of goods increased by 15.56% in comparison with the same month of the year. year 2017.
